Any Suggestions for Flash Card Programs?

Relearning Spanish has been working pretty well, but vocabulary is my greatest weakness. I bet there are Spanish parrots out there that know more words than I do! Anyway, I remembered a post on my friend Kiri’s blog (What I Learned Today) that mentioned a flash card program for the Mac called iFlash. It sounds awesome, but I’m using Windows.

I know there are lots of similar programs and even web apps out there. So, do you use any of them? Have any recommendations? Or would you suggest using — gasp! — flashcards made out of paper?

  1. I used a flashcard program long ago, but I can’t remember the name of it. I’ll see if I can find it, but I probably can’t.

I would actually recommend paper flash cards or a simple notebook. If you’re just trying to memorize something by rote memory, it’s not going to serve you as well as if you assimilate it and use it. I’d suggest using a small notebook and writing key words in it and reviewing it several times a day.

  3. Try Quizlet.com.

I haven’t used it (I’m not really studying anything that would need that right now) but it looks like it would be helpful.

  4. Funnily enough, I like rocket spanish.

It has lots of stuff in it, including some flash cards.

Although if you just wanted to learn from cards, I’d just make them myself and learn that way.

    Cheers.

  5. Try the program Byki. They have a ton of languages, and it’s interactive. Not only does it teach you the vocab, it teaches you the correct pronunciation as well.
