On Fuzzles and Learning to Draw
Since I’m going to start learning how to draw, I thought I’d kick things off with a couple examples of my previous attempts at drawing.

When I was in middle school, I started drawing some cute, fuzzy little creatures and called them fuzzles — and no, I did not get the name from Neopets.
My first attempt at drawing a fuzzle on the computer (MS Paint) and my friend Hallie’s first attempt at making an animation.
Over time, they became a trademark of sorts. I drew them in my notebooks, in my friends’ yearbooks, in the guest book inside Shakespeare’s house — I even made a website about them in 2002! It’s still up, but I won’t link to it because it’s incredibly embarrassing. Can you believe that I actually wrote things like “thankz”?

My drawing skills have certainly improved over time, but I still have a lot to learn. What will the next version of the fuzzle look like? Will they still be fuzzy? Will they become three-dimensional, living beings that take over the world? Only time will tell.

Ok, this is quite odd…
I drew fuzzles in middle school also; though it was likely 15 years before you were in middle school and, thus, before you were born. They were almost exactly like the fuzzles that you show here: fuzzy body, two feet, eyes, mouth, no arms. Mine had two antenna generally and no bow. I drew dozens of them and gave them names based on their pursuits (e.g. Sporty Fuzzle, etc.). Sounds very similar to your experience.
I found your site through Kiri’s blog. While browsing through your sites, I came across this Fuzzle post. What do you think that your inspiration was? I did some Googling and you are one of the few mentions of Fuzzles on the net. As the internet, in it’s current form, did not exist, my inspiration was certainly not NeoPets either.
This must be an example of convergent doodle evolution. Strange. Gotta love the internet.

Whoa, that is so weird it’s scary! I’m not even sure I believe you, it’s so unbelievable! If I remember correctly, my fuzzles were inspired by a friend’s friend who drew some sort of cartoony ball of fuzz type thing, which I elaborated on. And I drew different kinds of fuzzles like that, too! Angel fuzzles, devil fuzzles, baby fuzzles… Most had bows, but there were some with baseball caps, too.
Maybe fuzzles are like dragons; for some reason, dragon-like creatures exist in virtually every human culture. So there’s a universal fear of snakes, fire, and sharp claws and teeth, and then there’s also a universal love of cute, fuzzy things. Hmm… maybe I really could make fuzzles the subject of a research paper.

OMG U GUYS DRAW FUZZLES? THATS INSANE I’ve been drawing fuzzles since like grade 6, I’m in grade 11 now. Look up the name Drew Fuzzle on the internet I use it everywhere kthxbai
