Spanish Grammar in a Nutshell

Now, I’m already pretty familiar with Spanish grammar after four years of classes. I forgot almost all the vocabulary and the many conjugations of verbs, but I still understand the basic grammar. So here’s a super-quick summary of what I remember:

  • All nouns are either male or female (and singular or plural).
  • Adjectives and articles are either male or female (and singular or plural), matching the nouns that they’re describing.
  • Adjectives usually occur after the nouns they describe.
  • There are many verb tenses, all with different conjugations.
  • Pronouns are often dropped from a sentence if they aren’t necessary.

Of course there are many more details, which I’ll be reviewing in my next posts.
